Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there!
[Don’t worry, dads, your day is coming soon too]

Being a mother is one of the most joyful experiences of our lives. Being a mother also brings the most seemingly endless stream of challenges that a human can experience! From hearing your baby's first heartbeat to holding them in your arms for the first time, to then seeing them grow and develop and flourish--each moment is filled with wonder--and many are filled with anxiety. We love our children with all of us, and we want nothing more than our kids to be happy and healthy.

I can still feel all of the emotions of those endless nights, sleeping on the floor of my sick infant, fretting and wondering if they were going to be OK. I can still smell the before-and-after of infinitely washed sheets and towels when my children couldn't stop throwing up. I can still feel the nervousness while pacing, waiting for test results in the hospital. And I remember the sense of relief each time I realized my sick kid started to recover. Most of all, I remember how frustrated I felt that I couldn't care for my sick kid better, and that I didn't have reliable information to help my family cope. And I felt all of these things, despite the advantage of being a board-certified pediatrician and pediatric infectious disease specialist!

Because of our first-hand knowledge of these challenges as both parents and pediatric physicians, we, the creators of Syne, are committed to supporting parents through all of the ups, downs, and uncertainty of raising children, and all of the illnesses that they will encounter. Specifically, if you have a child with a chronic medical condition, we understand that this can literally be an all-consuming adventure. We are here to support you and help you learn and grow through this process. On this day, please celebrate yourself and all you have done to support the health and well-being of your children.

Happy Mother’s Day!
